Making Sure Your Money is Secure

Since launching Zoompass, we’ve had a few questions come up about security and about the verification process involved in setting up an account. So, we thought it would be a good idea to give you a little glimpse behind the scenes.

First off, because Zoompass is a financial service, we go to extremes to make sure your money and your information are safe. This means ensuring that everyone that uses Zoompass is who they say they are.

We need to check that you are the person who owns the mobile phone number you’ve registered and that you actually live at the location you have listed. In order to do that, a Zoompass Customer Care representative may contact you to review your information.

Most financial services are able to verify your information by means of your connection to your bank account. If you sign-up for a credit card through your bank over the phone or online, for example, they already know who you are, based on you having provided several pieces of identification when you opened your account.

We understand that everyone has concerns about their privacy and we encourage you to make sure that you only give information out to people who should have it. That’s why we will always also give you the option to call us back at our published toll-free number (1.888.Zoom2Go, also seen in the Contact section of the Zoompass website).

So in a nutshell, if you get a call from a Zoompass Customer Care representative, it’s only because we’re trying to help keep your money safe and secure.

Still, we’ve heard your feedback and, on our end, we’re going to make sure we’re clearer about why we’re calling and how you can verify OUR identity.

We’re thrilled with the response so far, but we’re always open to feedback, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know what we can do to make Zoompass even better!

RT @boxofmeat: The CitiGroup caller was surprised I wanted her to identify herself securely. “I said I’m calling about your CitiCard.” Sheesh. (sez @alexr)
